A joint meeting was held between the Iranian Institute for Belt and Road Studies and the Center for Advanced International Studies of the University of Tehran, aimed at developing scientific, research, and cultural cooperation, as well as exploring avenues for signing a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions. It was decided that bilateral cooperation would be enhanced within this framework. The meeting was convened to strengthen scientific and research collaboration between academic and research institutions in Iran, to deepen specialized exchanges in the fields of China studies and the Belt and Road Initiative, and to review and agree upon areas of joint cooperation between the Iranian Institute for Belt and Road Studies and the Center for Advanced International Studies of the University of Tehran.
One of the most significant focal points of this meeting was the academic conference organized by the Center for Advanced International Studies of the University of Tehran to mark the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Iran and China. Within this context, both sides agreed to provide the necessary cooperation for the successful organization of this conference, as well as for any potential pre-conference sessions. Furthermore, the Center for Advanced International Studies of the University of Tehran will collaborate with the Iranian Institute for Belt and Road Studies to offer a Chinese language course with a business-oriented approach.
During the meeting, while emphasizing the need to expand academic and research interactions between Iran and China, both sides underscored the establishment of mutual study centers. Accordingly, it was agreed to launch an “Iran Corner” at Chinese universities and think tanks, as well as to establish a “China Corner” at the Center for Advanced International Studies of the University of Tehran, as one of the key axes of their joint cooperation.
Subsequently, both parties stressed the importance of joint cooperation in organizing programs to introduce books published by the Iranian Institute for Belt and Road Studies, as well as to present the institute’s periodical journal. These programs will be carried out with the aim of showcasing the institute’s research capacities and achievements, and strengthening its connection with the country’s academic and university communities.
